Description:

Mount Toubkal (Jebel Toubkal) is the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m (13,671 ft), located in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains within Toubkal National Park. The summit trek is a popular, non-technical hike offering stunning Berber village scenery, rugged trails, and panoramic views from the top. It’s challenging due to elevation, steep rocky sections, and potential altitude effects, but accessible for fit hikers without climbing experience.9e7332

Typical Itinerary (2–3 Day Standard Trek)
Most people do a quick ascent from Marrakech:

Day 1: Drive from Marrakech to Imlil (1,740m / ~1.5–2 hours). Trek to Toubkal Refuge or base camp (~3,200m), 5–7 hours, ~10–12km, 1,400–1,500m elevation gain. Stay in a mountain refuge (dorm-style) or gîte.

Day 2: Early summit push (starts ~4–6 AM). ~960m ascent over rocky/scree terrain, 4–6 hours up, then descend to refuge and back toward Imlil. Total summit day: 8–12 hours hiking.

Optional Day 3/Extension: Return to Marrakech or add acclimatization hikes, Berber village visits, or a longer circuit.
